Our board member Markus has made a short-notice trip to Malawi to personally advance several ongoing projects and partnerships at once.

Alongside administrative tasks – including banking matters and the collection of key documents – the agenda covers a number of central projects:

The main focus is the renovation and new construction of Lidzinji Primary School in Chepezi. Markus will meet with contractor Chiputula and – via phone call – with architect Dan Tsiga, who is also set to oversee construction on site. The aim is to prepare the building contract. The visit will conclude on Friday with a joint meeting at our guesthouse, bringing together all available stakeholders involved in the project.

A further focus is the water supply for the permaculture project "Tadzuka" in Kamphata. Proposals have been received from the companies "Glem" and "Blue Sky"; concrete negotiations and coordination meetings with both are on the agenda.

There is also a meeting planned with the Rotary Club Lingadzi. The cooperation with the local Rotary Club is set to be deepened; on the agenda are a Memorandum of Understanding as well as joint plans to apply for a Rotary Global Grant.

Also on the programme is an important discussion regarding the planned solar installation in Mganja. The solar panels were donated to our association and shipped to Malawi last year in a container alongside other goods. The company JOMAC Electrical Services & Supplies is now set to install the panels this year and connect them to a capable battery system. The goal is to provide the Home of Dreams – the student dormitory of Tiyende Pamodzi Girls Secondary School – as well as the neighbouring Nazareth Community with reliable, sustainable electricity. In August 2026, Fabian from Elektriker ohne Grenzen will travel to Malawi specifically to accompany and supervise the professional installation on site. The conversation during this short visit serves to prepare and coordinate the next concrete steps.

A short stay – but a full calendar, and a lot of momentum across our projects.
