At the request of Father Isaac Mwazambumba, we met with him in yet another forgotten part of Malawi: the outbacks somewhere between Golomoti and Balaka (along the M5). After an adventurous drive over scorching sand tracks, we arrived at Bilila Primary School.

This school is in a deplorable condition, especially since the roof of one of the school buildings was blown away during the last rainy season (Cyclone Freddy). Since then, part of the nearly 1,000 students have been taught in the roofless building. All other buildings are also in a state of disrepair and urgently need renovation.

The rainy season will begin in Malawi in the coming weeks, and it is easy to imagine that schooling under these conditions will be nearly impossible. Could this be a new project for the near future? Are we, given our many other commitments and our limited resources, potentially overwhelmed by taking on yet another task? Could another sponsor be found?

At the teachers' request, we will start by sending a few sports balls (footballs, handballs, etc.) to Bilila, as the children currently have none at all.
