In Lidzinji, another important meeting took place with representatives of the village community. Participants included members of the school committee, the head teacher, the Primary Education Advisor (PEA), representatives of the Community Police, as well as several chiefs (traditional village leaders). Members of the local team of our Malawian NGO were also present.
The meeting began in the afternoon at around 2:30 pm with an opening prayer followed by a round of introductions. The head teacher welcomed everyone present and gave our local Goeldner Foundation team the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves and present our work.
A central topic of the meeting was the current status of our school project. Members of the school committee and the village community showed great interest in the progress of the project, as many families have been waiting for a long time to see their children learning in safe and suitable school buildings.
Our team was able to report that the project has now reached its final preparation phase and that construction work is expected to begin in the near future.
The feedback from the village community was very positive. The school committee welcomed the approach taken so far and emphasized that the community is ready to actively support the project. For many parents, the most important wish is that their children will soon be able to learn in better and safer conditions.
Representatives of the village community also stated that they are committed to supporting and safeguarding the project during the construction phase. The chiefs further suggested that once the contractor begins work on site, members of the village community should be considered for simple construction tasks as a way of involving and supporting the local population. This proposal was welcomed by everyone present, as it helps strengthen local participation and fosters a sense of shared ownership.
Overall, the meeting was very encouraging. It helped build trust and created a strong foundation for further cooperation. The positive support from the village community gives us great confidence for the next steps of our project in Lidzinji.
