We had already reported on this: The GF Goeldner Foundation plans to use this guesthouse as the future base for its own NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Malawi. This will establish a permanent presence for our organization in the country – an important step for our work.
We are currently preparing the official registration of our NGO in Malawi. This recognition offers many advantages, such as tax exemptions (for example when importing goods) and a stronger legal standing in the country. One of the prerequisites for registration is having a physical address – and the guesthouse is intended to fulfill exactly that role.
In addition, as the name suggests, the house will also serve as accommodation for guests: travelers who want to explore the region around Lake Malawi or stay there for an extended period of time. We especially want to give friends from Germany, as well as interested visitors from around the world, the opportunity to experience this special region – whether to live, volunteer, or simply find rest – with access to accommodation, basic services, and a connection to our ongoing projects.
The renovation of the guesthouse is being fully financed by private supporters of the GF Goeldner Foundation. No donated funds are being used for this purpose.
We plan to promote this accommodation near Lake Malawi through well-known booking platforms (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com). In the future, it will also be possible to make reservations directly through the GF Goeldner Foundation website. The management and day-to-day operation of the guesthouse will be handled in our absence by our close malawian partner organization Nazareth, on whose property the house is located. Rental income will be used primarily to cover running costs – such as staff salaries and food supplies. In addition, we hope to use the proceeds to support our local projects and other social initiatives.
We will continue to provide updates on our website as progress unfolds.
