Electricity for the Home of Dreams and Nazareth - 14.08.2026

Last year, as we reported at the time, we shipped another container of goods to Malawi. It carried, among other things, a complete and fully working solar power system, donated to us by the company Dr. Metje. That system is now up and running.

It serves two purposes. It powers the Home of Dreams, a hostel for pupils of the Tiyende Pamodzi Girls Secondary School, so that the girls living there can read and study once darkness falls. And it supplies the Nazareth Community, which relies on electricity for the support work it does for the surrounding villages.

The system was installed on the roof of the community's main building. The work was carried out by a contracted Malawian specialist firm. The installation was accompanied by Fabian, who was already in Mganja in October 2024 for Elektriker ohne Grenzen e.V., where he had equipped another hostel on the grounds of the Tiyende Pamodzi Girls Secondary School with a solar system. This time he travelled to Mganja again at our request, in order to supervise the installation and ensure that everything ran smoothly. We would like to thank him particularly for this.

The Nazareth Community now has a reliable power supply for the first time in almost twenty years. We are currently working on the purchase of two refrigerators, so that food and, above all, important medicines can be kept cool.
