Water Supply for the Permaculture Project "Tadzuka": Contract Signed, Construction to Begin – 16 June 2026

A significant milestone for the "Tadzuka" permaculture project in Kamphata: during Markus' short visit to Malawi, the contract for the construction of the water supply system was officially signed. The meeting brought together all parties involved – the Tadzuka team, the Malawian board members of our local NGO, and the appointed contractor.

Tadzuka is a permaculture project run by young, well-trained Malawians. The project has an important social dimension: it aims to pass on sustainable agricultural methods based on permaculture principles to the local population – large parts of which depend on subsistence farming. The farm is located in the Central Region of Malawi, approximately 38 km from Lilongwe, on remarkably fertile land – as Markus enthusiastically reported after his visit. What the project has been lacking until now is a reliable water supply: currently dependent on rainwater, the farm is limited to a single growing season per year.

That is about to change. The plan is to install a solar-powered borehole system with two large storage tanks, providing the site with a year-round water supply. The implementation period is scheduled to run from 1 July to 1 August 2026 – meaning construction will begin in just a few weeks.

All contract details were thoroughly discussed and the agreement has now been signed by both parties. A short visit to the project site in Kamphata followed the meeting. The Tadzuka team expressed great excitement about the developments ahead, and extended warm thanks to Markus for travelling all the way from Germany and for being personally present at the discussions.
