The siblings Lawi, Tadza and Mathew Hau-Hau and their friends Precious and Pempo have been working for some time on the realization of a permaculture farming project in the Lilongwe area. We have known these young people for a long time; Colin met Mathew and his siblings in 2016 during his first stay in Malawi; since then we have all been very close friends with them. The main goal of the Tadzuka permaculture idea is to develop sustainable agricultural methods and combat climate change by supporting a healthy environment. The aim is to create a self-sustaining, regenerative agricultural ecosystem with the aim of food security, income for employees and increasing educational opportunities for the local community.
We met with the team in Mganja and discussed ways to support and participate. The first step is to secure the agricultural land in Kampatha (1.6 ha) and raise the necessary funds, which is not an easy task. The Tadzuka team also gave us their project plan for 2024, which can be viewed here:
